What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)?

BJJ is among the sports that have gained popularity due to its success in mixed martial competition. It teaches students to defend themselves against bigger adversaries. Grandmaster Carlos Gracie Sr. the founder of BJJ, modified Japanese jujutsu to create the art. It involves stand-up maneuvers and gaining superior positions so that one applies chokes, locks, holds and joint manipulation on the opponent.

Why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Many people treat Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as an after-school program, which is relatively unimportant compared to other sports. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is not an after-school program, day care or a temporary experience as most people assume. It is a personal investment that will benefit our students in life. Some of the benefits include achieving our life goals, building confidence, eradicating bullying, and building our character. To accomplish these things, it is necessary that we all recognize that it takes time, hard work and dedication.

How often do I need to train?

At least twice a week. The more you train, the better you get. However, most people don't see any real results unless they practice three or more times a week.

Am I too old or young to train?

We have students of all ages, starting from 3 years old, each with different goals in mind. Whether you are 3 or 65, our classes and programs are designed to provide results at any age.

Do we compete?

Yes, at tournaments such as North American Grappling Association, NEWBREED Ultimate Challenge, US Grappling, International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

Self-Defense Vs. Sports Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

It has been said quite often that self-defense is not the same as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Self-defense is a universally acknowledged art. Learning how to self-defend removes the fear of confrontations and gain courage through training in different scenarios. In contrast to the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, deals with ground fighting. The only difference in the two is the purpose as to why people undertake them; both coach their learners to fight and defend themselves.
